Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Is today the day?

I've read speculation that it starts today.

The SF office did close in March, but Gale employees were retained and have been working from their homes. Any news if they were let go today? Thanks

Where is the internal FH thread? I'm in FH and know people are being laid off.

Here’s a hint; schedule a new meeting, add your HR partner and see what days they’re blocked out.

I survived a lot of restructures too, and know a lot of people who were cut who are absolutely thriving now. Its still a very hot job market out there and companies have a hard time finding qualified candidates to fill openings. The bottom line is if you have skills and are a good employee you will be just fine. Better than fine.

Former Cengager here—I survived two restructures at C L and both layoffs happened at the start of the week–one was on a Monday and the other on a Tuesday. It started with some type of ridiculous video message from CEO or NSM. My advisement to you all is take the news, keep phone next to you, go for a walk or do something to keep mind occupied (I literally did some yard work), and brace for a long evening of sadness, happiness (that you're gone from the c-apshow of a company), and be ready to embrace the next chapter of your life regardless of what happens. Once the news settles in, update the resume, reach out to your networks, and use the career services they offer. It's all about you and no one else–I wouldn't waste time going about the "why me" or offering support to those who got laid off or were retained. No one will give a dang and people move on very quickly once your fate is announced.

Maybe? Word is that it's going to be today and/or tomorrow, so could be nothing today and everything tomorrow. Or it could be everything today. The people who know for sure probably aren't posting here. Tensions in the Mason office are really high right now.
