Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

To all of the posters worrying about the empty shelves at all Fry's Electronics stores

Chill out and take it easy. It is nothing new for them at all: They have done this tactic before.

A friend told me that they were trying to get a warranty replacement for an Appliance and the Customer Service Rep at Frys said that they should probably deal with the manufacturer directly as they probably (Frys) couldnt fulfill it because they weren't going to be around.

I’ve never seen this happen to any store.

I don’t know if people are trolling when they try to defend Fry’s or if these people are loyal employees in denial. On the Youtube message boards that are attached to all the recent videos about Fry’s, there are a couple people who insist nothing is wrong with Fry’s. Then they go on to say that they’re going to spend $13k on A/V equipment at Fry’s.

So I don’t know if there is a select few people trying to troll or if they’re Fry’s employees.

how much space is there for text before I run out of room for lols...

I think you're confusing empty shelves with barren store. There's a difference between having low stock on harddrives or power supplies to simply having nothing in the store at all, including employees and HVAC

They're way, way past being able to ramp up for Black Friday

There is one month before the biggest shopping day of the year. Is Fry's waiting to stock all its stores the day before Thanksgiving? Maybe they are, but no one is talking about it (no "buzz") except vague reassurances from upper management. The stores tell the story: Empty shelves, disassembled shelving. worn rugs, dwindling number of employees, attempts at filling the empty spaces with anything on hand, quantities of off-brand products that make no sense for the store, broken air conditioning and automatic front doors and on and on.

I don't think anyone is trying to dance on Fry's grave (except for wronged employees) but lies just raise the long-simmering BS meter.

Unless Santa Claus is making a planned, very late, spectacular, ad-filled delivery, Fry's appears to making plans for a quiet, slow end.

Been doing business (Vendor) with Fry's for the last 20+ years - and can say that I have never seen this happen before with them. If they had been willing to work with us at the beginning of the year we probably would still be shipping to them, but as of today haven't heard from them

Shelves have been empty before, but nowhere near this extent. Purchases alone cannot account for the large amount of dissapearing inventory. The stores I have been in recently were nearly devoid of customers, and have been for some time.

No they haven't. Thats like saying Ive gone 10 miles per hour before therefore I know what 100 mph is like. Thats the degree difference that they've “done this before”.

They are attempting to go consignment with all vendors which is kind of difficult asking people you already owe money to lend you items on credit. Thats like me asking my maxed out credit card company to lend me more credit before I establish I can pay them back the original amount owed.

And so your seeing off brand items because they are different businesses giving them a (paltry) amount of items, being new vendors. Existing vendors, as of yet, arent playing this game. Your core products are seriously missing from graphics cards to motherboards to computers to laptops to basic electrical cords to routers to hard drives, etc.., the list is very long.

Its been well over a month since the company was pressured into providing this consignment answer, meaning its been many more months in the process of attempting this. Meaning are you seeing what Im seeing, which is next to nothing.

Frys would have to get a HUGE amount of vendors to do this to finally make sales > overhead. In the meantime they have to shuffle around who they pay/dont pay all the while still racking up more debt. And at that you still owe tons of vendors $$$ still.

A gambling man would say this is doomed. Sure its a try, but I highly doubt they'll suddenly pick up after losing all credibility with the consumer even if they did start getting enough product in.

Oh and Ill let the mass majority of Frys employees that quit, were let go, or are given 0 hours your good news that they do this all the time. Ill make sure to reach out to the 20 year managers and long-time loyal regular workers that were played with and finally jumped ship after making minimum wage with Frys new realignment positions that its all ok. After all you know, this happens with Frys from time to time, right?
