Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

Layoffs in GO

15% cut is not enough cuts up there in GO, cut all these folks from “key retailing” that travel all over the country doing audits but have very little clue of what reality is like in the real world. They cost us $9,000 just on expenses. Hotels, flights, foods. Thats per period. Not even counting their salary.

Cut the fat in every dept in GO, just go thru knowme and look at the org profile and see how much “fat” it’s in there. Marketing, consumer affairs, HR (of course). And put some jobs back on buyers.
We do not need this many VPs! One per division is enough. Save us millions with that.

Then look at division positions, customer 1st, comm. manager, food and safety, expense, labor , FE mgr, fuel, all can be combined on some shape or form.

BTW, our company is being run by an accountant. He doesn't understand ppl. The merchandisers in charge of the depts. In GO are a joke.... and the ppl they promoted under them too... thats the root....
We can do this right and get the company back in line, but we must start we cutting the fat from every angle, including the top. Sorry, but he has to go, too many bad decisions.

Ocado.... our promise... FE transformation... CX walks... . bad promotions... the list goes on and on.

Then after the fat is cut, decentralize the divisions. Let each division run themselves, they know more than the incompetents in GO. They lost touch.

That’s a start and we may have a shot.

Here we go... DMs all being shuffled around in many divisions prior to the fiscal year. Round 2.

There is a consulting company we hired working with some folks in GO (that they want to get rid off, so they pulled them to do this special assignments job). Looking at every role and which should stay and which should go. Who has faith they will get it right?

So many negative posts here from all 4 corners of the country... this is systemic problem as a whole... starts at the top.

This culture of fear and intimidation and ruling by it. When did that ever work? The reality is we are on a nose dive and Rodney and team are looking at a sheet of paper and trying to eliminate roles based on that completely forgetting what got us here in the 1st place... good people

Some Excellent Points here!!! Why in the world do you need 2 VP's in a division? They add no value. The HR department is larger than it was 25 years ago and everything they use to do has been outsourced. They cant answer questions about insurance, payroll, retirement, disability, LOA... nothing. All they do is give you a 1-800 #. Key retailing is nothing more than common sense and they have botched that up. Didnt Key Retailing come up with that Waste Integration program? The one where you save all kinds of money by drilling a whole and screwing a scotch tape dispenser into the endcap on opposite ends of every other aisle. BRILLIANT! And you just have to love putting a tag and recording every bale of salvage that leaves the store. This company is being run in the ground by operations. When are some leaders in merchandising and manufacturing going to step up?
