Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Shldq stock still has value

Normally the "Q" stock of a company goes down to zero shortly after a bankcruptcy but this one has been hanging around, still worth about a quarter a share. Maybe its worth it to buy a bunch of it like a lottery gamble. If the transformation is successful it may be worth lots of money in the far off future.

Sears was my mainstay job for my entire life, now retired, its amazing to me to see just how far Sears was trying to expand back in those days, talks i could see on the new intranet page said Hoffman was having growing pains, throwback memory. Someone? i hope is writing a history book on it all.

shldq is the corporate shell company. though filing is not clear about what shldq may still own as transformhc only bought some assets... but it's pretty clear that shldq does not have enough money or assets to pay their lawyers hence the liquidation. If Sears as a brand turns around it is transform hc and maybe Eddie's hedge funds that you want to own. shldq shares will be canceled at the end of the liquidation... possibly if you owned enough of them you could do a hostile takeover of the post liquidated shell company and become the proud owner of shld a defunct and worthless company.. maybe you could rebuild from the ground up??

right now the only value they have is speculative based on a possible payout to shareholders in liquidation.

If (big If) the transformation is for some reason successful the money will end up at Transform. Eddie will profit, the remaining Hometown owner/operators will profit, perhaps some commissioned sales depts will benefit. The shldq stock? That will be worth nothing. Thus you are better off working at Sears than buying the stock if you believe in the transformation.

Old Sears continues to exist only for the completion of the bankruptcy process. As soon as the settlements are finalized in court, the shell of Sears Holdings Corporation will be dissolved.

Shldq is old Sears’ stock not part of Transform or NewCo. Old Sears is not and will not recover. Anyone who still holds shares of shldq is best advised to ask for the actual stock certificate, that way they can at least use it as wallpaper
