All along the impression given was they would be taking along approximately 4500 employees out of approx 7500 employees over to BRCM . Yesterday we were told 2300 offers went out with 600 expected to go out in Europe ... that adds up to 2900 - what happened to the remaining 1600 offers ? Looks like Art missed reading the devil in the fine print all this while.. or did we miss reading it ?

From a former CA employee. Transition does not mean you are automatically gone. I think Broadcom likes to take a "wait and see" approach to certain roles. Many at CA had offers extended after the close of the deal even though they were initially transition. Make no mistake in under estimating Hock. He literally is one of the most impressive people I've ever met. For such a big business he knows details down to the product level. If you contribute to the bottom line based on his ratios you'll be good. If not, you'll probably be gone.
For the additional numbers they decide to let go you would expect that symc severance precedence in each country will still apply respectively.
2000 of the 4600 will be on transition 6, 9 or 12 months.
Early on it was indicated that Broadcom would be responsible for 4,600 employees (or somewhere around that number). It doesn't mean that Broadcom will employ ALL of those employees – just that they're responsible for them. In other words – if Broadcom wants to only make offers to 3,000 of them, then they will be responsible (financially) for the severance packages of the remaining 1,600, or so.
We were also told that all SE's will be moving over to BRCM, not the case. 100 SA's and 250 EBU SE's. That leaves 200 SE's without an offer. Very misleading and a desperate move to try and retain the brain trust. However, most of those folks were smart enough to see the smoke blown up there...
All along the FAQ site says many on BRCM's behalf. And I am sure BRCM will honour all of them.
They are taking advantage of the front line employees, It’s time for lawsuits.
