Thread regarding Cengage layoffs

Any chance of getting severance?

Or are they doing it this way to avoid a merger severance?

@11HPsjAi-1fpz Typically how it goes, but they also can’t make it only look like high dollar talent was cut. Expect some younger low level employees to be sacrificed in order to balance it out.

Are employees with higher salaries being targeted first since they're trying to save money?

I've heard from HR that it's 2 weeks for every year. Tuesdays the day for the layoffs..hold onto your hats

I doubt anyone's been at Cengage for 52 years.

I've gone to HR and asked. They've confirmed 1 week per year including benefits during that time. It maxes out at 1 year.

It used to be 2-weeks for every year. With the assumable size of this, the terms of any severance packages could be changed.

1 week for every year of service is how it’s been done as of late. It used to be one month for every year.

I don’t think they will withhold severance but you never know. The credo may have changed.
