Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Housecalls

Ok, so I currently work for housecalls, right? And for the past few weeks, we have been sent home early, and been low on records. I was wondering if this is a sign of an impending layoff for us as well?

CMS sanctions UnitedHealthcare plan: 3 things to know
Morgan Haefner - Tuesday, October 15th, 2019 Print | Email

One of UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage plans will face enrollment restrictions for 2020 due to compliance issues, according to the Star Tribune.

Three things to know:

  1. CMS sanctioned the UnitedHealthcare plan because for the third year in a row, the plan didn't adhere to a rule requiring it to have a medical loss ratio of at least 85 percent. A medical loss ratio measures how much of an insurer's revenue goes toward medical claims versus overhead costs.
  1. UnitedHealthcare said despite added benefits, the plan fell out of compliance because of a federal legislation reducing the health insurer's tax liability for 2018.
  1. Enrollment for the affected plan will be suspended for the 2020 contract year. The health plan is sold in nine states to less than 1 percent of UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage members.

My understanding of that article is that the sanction only impacts 1 of many Mcare Adv plans, less than 1% of membership.

Dirk McMahon is in charge of UHC now (has been for a few months now). He will fix this mess, I have huge confidence in him that it will be.

This article gives more details about the Medicare Advantage situation. If I'm understanding correctly, they have two more years to get their mess together, or else the government terminates their contract. Until then, jobs are still in danger of being lost due to lack of enrollment.

They been been put on a restriction for CIP. They failed to meet their medical loss ratio for the 3rd time so they cant enroll anyone new into CIP. Omg. How come they dont fire all of them. The top brass.

Yes, this is true. This does not mean Humana is buying UHC.

You're clearly misinformed UHG lost a 2020 bid to Humana as well as Cigna. Google is your friend

A member of UHC Medicare Advantage told a CAC that the member couldn’t use UHC Medicare Advantage next year (2020) because UHC was being bought by Humana.

Tomorrow is the day for a lot of cuts. This is not the final day as there will be more coming. Tomorrow will be a big one across the organization. I have total anxiety going to work tomorrow. When you see your department slowing down and jobs going offshore or automated you should know what is coming.
