Well, the bonus of no severance is no non-disclosure. You're now free to talk to media outlets or legal counsel since a precedent has been set of severance being paid. If that's the new precedent, a class action law suit could be viable option going forward.
Just be glad your state supports severance. When I got laid off I was given nothing for my 8+ yrs of service.
from the day you got laid off it takes 4 weeks to get severance pay. They give you basic 4 weeks severance pay plus 1 week of pay for each year worked. I found you worked 5 years, you will get 9 weeks severance.
