Thread regarding Pacific Life layoffs

Layoffs on December 31, 2019

Pacific Life will be laying off IT employees in multiple states, many of whom in California. Layoff notices were officially sent to employees today with the last date of employment being December 31, 2019. Severance package will be offered on that date. The positions will be outsourced to two, Indian-based companies.

2nd phase has been implemented to replace IT employees with cheap, outsourced contractors from India. IT is now being taken over by the failed leadership of GenPact's IT management who's only trick up their sleeves is cutting costs. As things continue to unravel in IT, the IT management team continues to paint a rosy picture that everything is going as planned when it has been an abysmal failure.

Upper management and the Board of Directors continue to turn a blind eye that offshore 3rd party outsourcing just doesn't work. All they can see and boast is the shortsighted bottom line savings they think the company will save in order to "innovate". Instead of doing the hard work of cultivating a better internal IT department and investing in its own people, they've decided to take the easy way out and outsource. But the opposite will happen and Pacific Life will end up spending more money trying to fix all the issues caused by this outsourcing decision.

I'm fortunate enough to be hired at another company now making 1.5X what I made at PL and where they value my skillset and I'm not the only one. Unfortunately, PL didn't know a good thing when they had it.

Pacific Life SLT, wake up!! Turn the ship around before it's too late!

I had to train my replacement. After 4mo's he/she still did not get it! Took me a few weeks to learn myself. These so called outsource "engineers" they have replaced us with are masters are deflecting, making excuses and delaying work, "waiting on someone else before they can do their tasks..." They love production fancy reports with no substance that no one reads to show they are actually doing something.... So sad!

This is very very sad.

TCS is the worst outsourcing choice. Look at their leads . They don't have any knowledge any skill. Liars.

This is going to backfire. These leads at Newport beach should be fired. Its a shame that leadership is so blind sided. God bless Pacific Life.

Are you sure its Tata and Cognizant – what happened to Genpact which was ballyhooed in 2017?

Give them time until the ITO contract expires and they'll be hiring back their IT staff locally.

It's about 100 folks so far in four campuses (Lynchburg, Omaha, Newport and Aliso Viejo). Mostly IT. And this is just the first phase of many.
