Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

More consolidation

They are moving practically all of UHC Payment Integrity over to Optum. The is big change consolidating UHC PI, Optum PI and Equian PI, whom Optum just acquired.

UHC PI is also offshoring Medicaid plans. It is unethical and possibly a massive HIPPAA violation to have the our most vulnerable citizens medical information overseas. Make sure you use all your PTO so you don't lose it because they will not pay it out. If you're not looking for other employment, you should be. U would not plan on being around for the cuts come January 1st. I basically ignore people saying you should not pay attention to this site. I predicted my department moving to Optum and it happened. Leave before they cut you. Make UHC work for you, not the other way around.

Data analysis and CI will determine which PI auditors stay. Game on.

I agree that Equian is definitely not up to par with Optum / UHC PI. That’s why I’m really not worried about layoffs. The only duplication of reqs will occur in middle management positions and possibly some overlap in the people in lower grade levels.

Equian is a joke. Optum/UHC will soon find out that they have been duped.

@ 11G4dNYu-6lis Are you a part of Optum PI? Managerial? The news From our manager has so far been positive and all about opportunities ahead for our team. No indication of req overlaps at least for us. I’m sure it differs from team to team.

I am in PI. It is eerily quiet here. I mean, I have work. Plenty of work. But we all feel like there is a giant piano hanging over us

Everyone Everywhere should be worried. You playing on Optum PI vs UHC is stupid. Optum gained most of it's PI folks FROM UHC. If you aren't a clinical rep in PI, be worried.

Everyone in PI should not be worried, that is absolute nonsense. Stop coming on this website to scare people because of your own insecurities. PI is made up of more than 50 departments and there is a very small chance that more than 1-5% of jobs are eliminated, even after the merge. The jobs that will go will be from Equian and UHC PI. They are merging into Optum, not the other way around.

It’s one of Optum’s core competencies also.

Agreed. It's called Core Competency, that's why we bought them. Equian can do Payment Integrity many times better than the Enterprise can, which reduces costs fof those whom we do PI for.

Ahh yes, the plain and common business practice of buying a company for $4B that duplicates what thousands of your employees already do, then laying off the people who’ve worked for you for years.

Makes sense, right? Why have numerous organizations doing Payment Integruty inside the Enterprise? Now that is just plain and common business practice.
