I want to say that giving a severance of 29 weeks for 17 years of loyal service is BS and they have lied over and over saying that a job is safe no worries. F—ing corporate executives only care about themselves. Calling the 29 weeks enhanced ????????????? this isn't a layoff it's firing and 2 months before Christmas? How do these executives live with themselves.

One week of severance for every year worked is standard for non-management employees. Managers, supervisors, etc usually get more. The higher up you are, the more you get (normally). Also, the higher up you are, the more power you have to negotiate a better severance package.
29 weeks for 17 years of service is generous, The most common severance packages pay 1 week for each year work.
Make sure they calculate your severance pay correctly. Check out Al-Sabur v. ADS. Obviously they don't care about paying us the correct amount. Best wishes for you.
"Sh– happens" has to be the most unemphatic compassionless response I've seen on here. You're a right a–hole if you think any of what happened makes anyone a "lucky" person.
If you got 29 weeks severance you should feel LUCKY. sh– happens at ever company.
Consult a lawyer and negotiate more
Well, I’m ready to revolt. My teammates too.
