Thread regarding Owens Corning layoffs

Layoffs at Owens

In Kansas City K5 Line in being shut down. 90% workforce shown the door. What we got told was since 2006 the housing industry has never recovered. That they have 500,000,000 lbs of insulation sitting in warehouses. That it wasn't our performance, just the industry is too slow to maintain the workforce. Just gott'a ask yourself what in the H**l are the OC Sales Dept doing? or should I say NOT DOING!

Bumped from @VTq4qyp-5Ldbg for info.

ASMS don't listen to what people are telling them, hear what they want to hear, feed marketing a bunch of bs and marketing eats it all up. Then marketing continues to fudge numbers on a c-appy product to say hey look how great we are doing. So therefore it must be people in the plants screwing up, better shut them down

Sorry for the layoffs!! We've had cuts over in Santa Clara as well, the company has shut down M line for the time being since March... Funny thing is we are still running 7 days a week with one line when material is just sitting in Warehouses. 500,000,000 is a whole lot of material just to be sitting so like you said, what the H*LL is OC sales department doing/ not doing! Never understood why OC would run 7 days a week and take away family time with these crazy hours when they could be running 5 days a week with weekends off to lessen the burden and ease the inventory levels!
