Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Boeing breaking news production layoffs

I work for one of the big suppliers, just got word this morning that things might be slowing down and they want to move some of us to other facilities "Temporarily". Doesn't sound good.

The 787 production rate is dropping from 14/month to 12/month. The 777X was supposed to enter service in late2020 and is now been pushed out to the right into 2021. With the 737MAX problems and a VERY possible production halt, there's no way Boeing is not going to be laying off and probably within the next few weeks to avoid paying out bonuses in January and February, not to mention having as many off the payroll prior to the Christmas shutdown. This means that 60 day WARN's have to be handed out almost immediately since it's now October 23rd.

The cost estimates for a new Type Certificate and New Simulators
were placed at 5 billion plus a delay to market, meaning lost sales.
This was a discussion held within Boeing. MCAS won the debate.
