Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Layoffs today in corporate

11 leaders and workers let go. No notice. Townhall meeting said that while we are growing and more profitable as a company we had to cut payroll to make more. Total robot voice and didnt give a sh–.

UHG is outsourcing all functions to overseas. My guess is that they are trying to milk money before medicare for all kicks in and share price goes to zero. Sell your stock ladies and gentlemen. Dump it all! Our fearless CEO is selling like mad.

And 12,000 in one day would be hard to spread across enough locations to avoid WARN requirements.

Not sure where Optimistic is getting information, but laying off 12,000 people on Friday is incorrect. The company does not do layoff notices of this nature on Friday. Usually done between Tuesday and Thursday .

Dont want to give too much info for identity reasons but many of us (2 teams) were told recently that they were out of work for us and we could take pto until work is available in a few days. We received another email shortly after that saying management would assign learnsources, they never did it and never sent another email so left us all hanging like id–ts. I’m assuming many people started questioning what was going on since it was so absurd that we got that email along with getting a mandatory OT email within the same hour for the whole department. Layoffs are definitely coming and unfortunately they choose who has been there the longest (more benefits, pto, higher pay grade) and nothing to do with performance.

It was about 5-6 Senior Directors from the Procurement group. Many people that had been there 20-30 years. My guess is that they were cutting the high salaries of old-timers that weren't pulling their weight any longer. Heard this department had been outsourcing much of the easy work overseas and had too many employees on hand to perform rather simple work. You're never safe in corporate America!
