Thread regarding Synamedia layoffs

How much of a paycut did you take this year at Synamedia vs Cisco?

At Cisco I got RSU grant and bonus every year, at Synamedia we just get base pay. So, I have taken about a 30% paycut this year, how much did you lose this year?

The underlying issue here is that Synamedia is full of managers but they have no leadership. There's a huge difference.

I received a bonus, was paid a “staying” bonus last month, and will receive a small holiday bonus. My base is the same and I was promised some kind of replacement for equity. Most people in Costa Mesa are in the same situation.

I got a raise, retention bonus, and regular bonus, if you are appreciated by your managers, the pay is still excellent.

Exactly right, my situation exactly – but I left. And damned glad I did.
No, what I have now isn't quite what it was at Cisco, but way better than Synamedia
(numbers were quite a bit better at Cisco than 200K BTW)

Higher grades (13+) have lost out a lot more - realistically their total gross pay has roughly halved or worse.
So why aren’t they leaving in droves? It’s because most of them know perfectly well that they’re not worth the massive wedge that they got from Cisco. In the U.K. most G13 got well over 200k and they simply can’t get anything like that on the open market because they aren’t that good!

Look, it's obvious those staying behind at Synamedia are doing so out of intertia. They may be doing it out of lack of other viable alternatives - and they may not be doing themselves a favor. This is, of course, their prerogative.

Let me tell you, I got hired at cisco, started working tech support and back then I was living ghetto fabulous... my life was like an episode of MTV cribs... then synamedia happened and now I've hit rock bottom. No more ESPP and bonus to fund my rock star lifestyle.
