We were one of the three remaining Kmart stores in Mich. Last week we found out we would be closing, because they had sold the store right out from under us to Amazon. Way to go Eddie!

If this is true, Amazon will not be buying that location for the building. We all know that most Sears and Kmart buildings are past their "best by" date – due to decades and decades of no upkeep – and are better off torn down. Amazon will just tear it down and build something else. They would have no use for it.
One key giveaway as to whether Amazon did buy the property is if they have purchased other properties surrounding that Kmart store. Amazon is a big operation, it needs a lot of land. A lot which formerly held a Kmart store isn't sufficiently sized and probably wouldn't be big enough for an employee parking lot, let alone a fulfillment center. If this is true about this specific Kmart site being sold to Amazon, Amazon has most likely purchased some property surrounding the Kmart site as well.
