Be careful about accepting a “voluntary” severance package. Medical, dental and vision expenses easily could run up to 40K per year for two even with premium health insurance. If trump gets his way and eliminates pre existing conditions you could really be in trouble, just saying. Stating the obvious again.

Of course if you are fortunate enough to have a big pension go for it, that is becoming more rare these days.
Thank you for the clarification. My original post is a serious post. Not everyone over 55 can afford to retire and nobody should be surprised that most did not take the voluntary retirement 📦, which was quite generous. I found out the hard way, any type of medical problem makes it difficult to retire after 55 unless you have at least 500 thousand In savings and that is even ify, firstly it’s tough to find work if you are sick and secondly you can drain any savings very quickly, much faster than anybody can imagine. Don’t know if anybody really cares, but my advice is to have at least a million or more before you retire and try to accumulate it before 50, just in case.
