Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

2U doesn't care about its employees

At least when it comes to admissions. We are the most important cog in this company - we ensure its revenue exists in the first place. And yet, we are nothing but metrics to those on top. And those metrics are becoming rediculous and impossible to reach. I've seen people fired - not laid off, fired - for not meeting their metrics even when the reasons were not in their control. How is that fair?

I used to love working here. Now I'm really sad to see what this place has turned into.

Admissions needs to be about more than butts in seats and more about graduates in seats. I believe this is what this change merging admissions with SS is about - along with fully changing leadership at the top of the admissions dept. I am hopeful that the push on admissions will change along with this - yes we want students to start - but even if ALL you look at is revenue - a student in a seat for 1 term does not help this org survive. More importantly, it doesn’t help students and leads to debt with no payoff. I do think there have been problems. I do think the goal is to make admissions a better department by providing increased leadership development and true support. We will see how it all shakes out. It totally s—s that some people with their hearts totally in the right place were let go. And - there were a number of people along with those who thought more about starts and not enough about graduates and that’s the culture we are trying to change.

I couldn't agree more. I did a program and owe them time which I totally regret now.
