Thread regarding Halliburton Co. layoffs

Here is a thought

Here is a thought, is it possible that perhaps Halliburton is shedding some of it's less profitable performers and reducing bloated areas of the company? Reductions don't necasarrily mean "Doom and Gloom", and after reading these threads it looks like the majority of posters are current employees who are disgruntled and have more to gain from "being laid off" than just leaving the organization. I don't think there is much merit to any of the information in this thread regarding "mass layoffs". What we are seeing is sensationalized and over hyped cuts to maintain competitive grounds in a grossly over projected market state.

I worked at Halliburton for 2yrs. I have to say it was ok I liked my crew. MC-18 was cool. I did notice Halliburton was ate up with worms. Over all my experience at Halliburton was good. I was able to get my bills paid off and am now debt free. They laid my crew down back in March and put us in the pump shop. I took all my vacation then came back and gave my 2 weeks notice. Of course they let me go right then but I did get paid for the 2weeks. Halliburton is just another oilfield services company. I worked for Weatherford and Archer. They are all similar. Halliburton was ok to work you just have to look out for your best interest.

Time for the good Directors and VPs to belly up an for go their bonuses. This will off set any need to RIF for many months keep those who make the profits paying the bills

If "management" would get their heads out of their asses and use some common sense, we wouldn't be in this situation. Hell yes we are disgruntled. We get busy and throw money away like it's nothing. Wasteful, wasteful. Then we are asked to help find ways to cut cost when we have no work. Psh.....should've been doing this MONTHS ago. A little too late for that. It's all politics and we are all just a number. They sure get their bonuses but don't worry about the ones who actually do the work FOR the big wigs upstairs.

They will never hold them accountable for their laziness because it would hurt their feelings and that is more important than company profitability. Or else they will just walk them out on October 1st.

4 crews are getting laid down. 1, 3, 8, and 14. So i would say there is "doom and gloom".

It’s a shame, they keep on laying off either highly experienced or fresh talent as a result they are losing both on experience and innovation

So if as Big Red said in the last post, That we've got a serious management issue. It's evident across the board at all levels, you've got individuals manning the helm that do not deserve to do so as they are under qualified, and worst of all undermotivated to do the job at hand rather than politic and watch golf at their desks, why do we keep them there along with their Sponsors....Cut some of the Good Ol Boys and get someone in there that knows anything about managing people and Customer expectations, and this Company would avian be the Big Red One, that it once was....

I fully agree that we've got a serious management issue. It's evident across the board at all levels, you've got individuals manning the helm that do not deserve to do so as they are under qualified, and worst of all undermotivated to do the job at hand rather than politic and watch golf at their desks. I do think there is a better way to manage market share increases rather than laying off personnel. Personnel create an opportunity for performance, and by reducing that head count you diminish that opportunity. I do still belive the cuts were made as stop loss measures, but I do not think they are as heavy as folks are anticipating. Perhaps these areas that just got affected by cuts would be better suited to operate if they had proper managers running the plants.

We could be competitive and not lay any one off if management would lay their cell phones down and get out of the office and uphold the company policies. Everyone and their cousin is running around here in company trucks by themselves for the most part. You can’t tell me that one crew van costs more than 10 pickups.

Classic HR minions spreading misinformation. "Don't pay attention to the layoffs behind the scenes, we're trying to stay competitive." Afterall, Halliburtons employees are their greatest asset when they need to show profit each quarter for investors.

I have another thought. Someone in their great wisdom shut off our coffee service which is a very minimal tax deductible cost. Yet we have support employees coming in at 6am to play on Facebook because no one else reports to work until 8am. I bet that NPT would more than cover the coffee. Management please wake up.

Wish they'd do that in Landmark. Honestly, most managers seem to have been chosen because they're useless
