Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Any concrete info on layoff in the next couple of weeks?

As far as I can see, many people are posting on this board at this moment, but there is very little or no word about actual layoffs that could happen in the next week or two? Does anyone have any concrete info regarding the numbers, potential locations, or any more precise info on that? Has anybody heard anything?

Layoffs will not be until September/October after the VSP dust settles and they have a good grasp around how many people took the VSP and how many additional staffing reductions will be required to meet the $900 MM G&A reduction goal.

There is lots of fat to trim with respect to legacy Anadarko employees, but my guess is the idle ones won’t be the ones volunteering for severance. Hopefully Oxy does it’s homework to weed out all the folks who were hired and promoted based on nepotism and rear end kissing.

Involuntary layoffs will happen only after the VSP numbers are tallied. Plan is to do this first round then have a second round offered to younger folks if the first round isn’t very successful. If numbers still haven’t been met, layoffs will happen. If that happens probably looking at end of October/beginning of November timeframe. As for numbers? Who knows...
