Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

Business as usual

Well looks like Fry’s Electronics Las Vegas is back in the game with various stock on high end items. I went shopping here yesterday and my God, they really have kept their word on restocking and that they did, I spent hours here speaking with associates about newer things they’ve just gotten in, sounds like they are here to stay for the long run! Associates are cheerful and excited to help out with whatever your needs maybe, my once again favorite electronic store!

Its not new product. In the last couple of weeks they dismantled the warehouse containing lots of product and sent it primarily to the closest stores and in particular vegas since its the too selling store. Dismantled meaning got rid of it.

All your seeing is current Frys warehouse stock. That is to say, your buying the dissolution of part of the company, which is an indication its going out of business. Quite the opposite of what your believing actually.

Give it a couple more weeks and it will look like it was before, but no more warehouses to dismantle. All the stores arent getting inventory, regardless if they were a money maker or money drain on the company, they are all being treated the same. Roughly 80% of employees got dropped with hours being told to cut more weekly. Its very obviously a slow shut down with a master plan that was already in place. Lies are being told to string everyone along, passed down to Store Managers who then pass the lies down to associates to keep some left. If anything the best description of the store theme the past 3 months is go after the associates to save money while the company drains itself out.

It doesnt matter if this is intentional or not, the method did its damage, losing any credibility with associates and customers alike. Upper management did a wonderful job destroying the customer base and ridding itself of multiple year loyal associates. That is to say the business most definitely turned on its own employees. Its only out for itself with no regard for any human decency.

Im predicting black friday as it. They arent bolstering bringing any product in or getting prepared for any with next to no receiving teams. Thats a death sentence

Not sure how the employees can protest about the owners - ?? I think some are just hanging on until the shoe drops - what else can be done?

Reading everyone’s remarks, I’m just amazed that employees have not done some mass protest against the owners. I mean, it’s obvious that the responsibility to running a company are the owners. Frys is failing because of upper management. Why are they not telling the poor employees that it’s over? Why are they not paying vendors? Is that good practice, or is another Trump scheme to file chapter 13 and not be held liable for millions of debt? Who are id–ts behind the wheel?

Good for that store, if it's true. One person made it to the life raft, the rest are in the process of drowning. When your day is spent telling people "Sorry, we don't have that." and "I don't know if we're closing, they just tell us to wait." week after week, it starts to get depressing.

Bulsht. I was just at the Fry's Las Vegas today. Cases of water and Gatorade on the shelves to make the shelves appear full. Large product boxes on the shelves placed with the wide side facing out, also to make the shelves appear full. Large product boxes on the shelves that are completely unrelated to the department they're in, again to make the shelves appear full. Fry's is just keeping up appearances.

I went to the Phoenix Fry's yesterday. It was sad. They had ONE home business switch. Not one brand. Not one model. One piece. They are stocking up on Staples/OfficeMax type stuff to take room. There were old K-Mart DVDs (with the K-Mart sticker on them) in the DVD section (3 Stooges CARTOONS, not even the movie shorts. )

And the topper of all toppers, they were out of canned air! Those stores LOVE canned air, with it's markups, and toss in the cart impulse purchase quality. I hope Fry's can bounce back.

Since when did Fry's put customer returns anywhere but the floor?

The closed warehouse was frys.com warehouse, the RTV ( return to Vendor) warehouse is possibly closing soon.

Don't forget they liquidated their main warehouse and closed it down. Most items from receiving are from that closure. San Diego only received items sitting there and it's the number 2 store.
