Now our over 40 experts watch their coworkers in other assets get their payday, while our under 40 high potentials ready to take the next steps get hamstrung along yet again taking a smaller piece of the pie. Thought the "brain drain" was going to be bad before? About to lose all the young talent we've amassed in the GOM to active recruiting operators.

There are a few more companies in the gulf and overseas. They can have that chump change onshore
Unlike onshore with around a 100 E&Ps competing to steal you from Oxy there are just a handful of companies (Shell, Chevron, BP, Exxon and Fieldwood) who could employ you in their over staffed GOM teams. So technically, GOM employees need no incentive as they have very limited options to find GOM jobs!
GOM guys wont go to WTX they dont want a pay cut
- wei- The GOM feeds the beast, it is a huge cash generator and runs on a tight ship. You can all say go to WTX all you like but if we lose the skill set in the GOM it's really bad for the new company with all the debt. People are free to leave sure- so they will and the new company will just have to deal with it. We are on very fragile ground until the debt in under control and it's better to take care of your key assets (people) than not.
GOM people are free to move to WTX if they feel they are missing out on the extra cash. They are also free to leave if they wish.
The GOM will be fine, they always have the potential to lose talent to other companies due to the lack of career progression and or other things. This might push some to look at other major companies that will be looking for experienced offshore workers. West texas is the place to be, but most offshore guys will take their 4 to 5 months of work with their pto and regular time off.
We will be fine without them.
