If you think moving up in this company is a promotion ask some of the Dep Mgrs that have had to quit or step down because they have more stress than they can handle. They have no help yet they are expected to pick up the slack when some one quits there dep.or is ordered by a ASM to work in another area.We have new Dep Mgrs coming is every day some very young then they quit CSM's also also teen angers, quit in weeks if not days.walmart is not a good company to move up in.Dep Mgrs are being replaced with team leads taking there Depts as well as others as well.Asst Mgrs. Also being replaced with team leads. If you are a manager and think your job is secure safe at walmart you are traveling with a caravan of fools.I have seen managers at walmart go from riches to rags there shirting them self's at walmart wondering where the ax will fall next.

Staying in one position is not good in any corporation, it prevents talent from developing. Those people working in those departments could be potentially great DM's if they had the opportunity, and then even move on from there, but its not possible if there is someone blocking the seat for years.

Something I stick to is the "2/3 year rule"; it takes ~2 years to learn everything at a job and be efficient at it. After 3 years you should be at maximum capacity at the given job and potentially be at a plateau.

NEWSFLASH! Walmart NEVER cared about it's employees. Associates are treated as liabilities only.
