Thread regarding Nestle layoffs

Retention bonus is the ONLY reason I'm hanging on...

This place is a soul siphon, and I'll be happy to start a new chapter and leave this one behind. I often wonder if I would be better off just finding other work to track a steady flow of income with, rather than wait around like a jaded cop for his pension. Being unable to tell a potential new place of work "when I can start" makes the waiting to the end pretty challenging (to put it politely)

I’ve been getting up at 2-3 a.m. and delivering to grocery stores for 30 years . Time to take some time off. There’s a lot of driving jobs out there right now , but we are 3 years overdue for a recession to hit

I’ve only been a merch for 3 years and I’m sticking around til the end, bonus isn’t crazy but would be dumb to quit now. You guys with 15+ years should take some time off after it’s done, can’t imagine waking up at 3 am for that long, this job s—s lol good luck nestle legends!

I was the first one too leave at out depot. I had a part time job and they offered me full time when I told them the situation. I was with the company for 10 years and I didn't feel the bonus was worth losing out on a full time job. To each is own. I will not regret leaving ealry. From what I'm hearing there hurting right now they are short 4 people.

Most the guys in our area have the same mindset. Just rough it out and get out. There are a couple reps though who are still taking their jobs way too serious like they’re going to be around to even see 2020. Complaining about rotation and having enough backstock. Give me a break.

whatever the retention bonus is i hope it comes after the new year. it is taxed at 25% plus if before jan. it counts as income earned. ive been here 25 years and had no choice but to stay i will NOT miss getting up at three am and going to bed at 7 pm. i can now watch football and enjoy the company of friends who i have abandoned because of the hours i work. i dont mind taking a job for less money, i think i will feel better and be healthier, at least i hope so. the retention bonus was a good way to get people to stay. but in the end they already got rid of most of the tenored employees with re routes and buyouts. i cant wait totake off the winter and not have to work in an artic vortex like last year. nestle will come through on the bonus we kinda already have it in writing. only a couple months left just hang in there.

That is the decision we all battle with, take the new job staring me in the face( less pay and worse days off) or stay for the money while our jobs get easier as responsibilities drop off. The hardest part of all this. I believe if i was younger and had less tenure invested into severance i wouldve jumped by now, just to get out if the daily stress, but have decided to stick it out to the end, should be interesting.

We are all going through it.......no matter what others say. As long as nestle comes through on what they have told us they will compensate us for staying til the end. Good things happen to good people.... so we all need to keep heads up and hope the carrot they are dangling in front of us comes true!!
