Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

GE Workers United BS

Just looked at proposed contract/pay increases proposed. How can anyone justify the measly hourly percentage increase that is proposed? Forget the lump sum c-ap that puts a few bucks(1/2) in the pockets of those desperate enough to take it. Breakdown the glorious 14K by the hours you work on STRAIGHT time over the next 4 years. Tell me then what a deal our fabulous Union worked to get us! Sold down the mighty Mohawk once again !! Glory Be to the Hall- really glad I’m going sooner than most.

1nrj-
This guy must be scared that he can not find another job that he can get by on. He must of been one of those T scale guys that came from making $10 hr before GE. The company knows this and that is why they presented us with another garbage contract. They keep taking away from what the union brothers and sisters have fought for. Decades of struggles to give what YOU have today but will be gone tomorrow. Out of fear you post on here they will shut the doors. So what if they do. Me for one I will not go out like this. MY VOTE IS NO! Why? Because all those managers treated us with no respect for the past 3 years! Why? Because is they do shut the doors they will be in the job market as well. Who knows you or I could be their boss in another company. That would be a great turn of events. Either way I am still voting NO.

GE has every reason to shut Schenectady down. The place is out of control and unrealistic in its alleged ability. The current crew couldn't repeat the glory days even if it tried with four times their hourly pay. Most of the work can be moved to other cheaper locations rather quickly that are good enough to get it done. The rest, well let's face it, none of it is on back order. This downturn is also time on their hands that they can use to realign and start over with a more realistic outlook. I'm sure their attitude is Get with the Program, or Get out! If we strike, we'll play into their hands and be made out to look like the fools that we think we aren't. Everybody is talking about what they aren't getting instead of noticing how much they aren't losing. We can be made to lose much more. None of us have it that bad or even put in an honest days work. I see countless personal projects being worked on daily. Stop pretending it's so bad and trying to make yourselves out to be the victim. Yeah yeah, if somebody doesn't like it leave, well how about if you don't like it, go become a CEO!

This IS my last contract. I’ve chewed on D’s who slammed the T’s and tried to help the T’s who wanted to be a “Brother”. Unfortunate that the Hall/Lack of leadership can’t instill the sense of what being a Union Member means. I feel bad for those who can’t afford to Strike but feel that’s what’s needed. I PRAY the National looks at how our Local has handled things. Too much Daddy/Uncle/Relative got me my job going on down there. Hasn’t changed in years but these clowns have NO CLUE !!

If this contract actually gets ratified, does this then become the contract for all the unions that voted to ratify the first TA? Or are they under the first contract they voted for? Just curious due to the fact its supposed to be a national agreement. Same goes for the deal the IAM is working on as opposed to Schnectady's deal, will everyone just get the better of the two deals?

I’m voting no because if I do not get laid off after contract passes I do not want mandatory OT. Grow a set vote no

Breaks my heart when Schenectady should have learned from the Momentive Strike that the first offer was the best offer. History repeats it's self. The IUE members at Momentive lost 3 months of wages and then agreed to a contract which was less than initially offered before the strike. There is only so much money to go around folks. Don't make the same mistake of going out on strike!

What a joke! I’m voting no it’s another garbage contract! They are making billions still GE has deep pockets look at the bonuses the big dogs get. We get crumbs and higher healthcare.

It’s still a c$-p contract what are we giving up? Why are we not gaining ground on anything for the dilutes we pay? I’m sick of this job and the games. I remember the days when people would want to stay and work here. Now many people talk of leaving but who has the bal!$ to do it? I’m still voting NO!

It sounds like a better deal, but read the fine print. They are giving "back" the ratification bonus if signed by ratified by the 15th of August, but they are also reducing the total amount of ACP's by $1000.00. And the numbers they always use are pre-tax which makes things look a lot better than they really are.

The only ones who deserve any kind of hourly increase are the T rates. If the D rates don't like it, they can go somewhere else where they can get paid more. Bet you they'd pout and stay!
