Thread regarding Anadarko Petroleum Corp. layoffs

How do you think the CoC protection will play out?

It looks like I missed some key points my first time around reading the CoC.

From what I understand, if they change benefits or move your office more than 25 miles during the first 12 months, you can request CoC.

From 12 - 36 months, you can only get CoC if they let you go.

My question is, does this mean OXY can cut APC benefits after 12 months while still keeping us employed without triggering CoC? If that’s the case, does it provide any real protection after 12 months?

My guess is that if you want the CoC, you will have to pursue it with your life. But the CoC isn’t for everyone. And each one of us knows if the CoC is something that we want or not. So look deep down in your heart and if the CoC comes your way, you will know if you will jump on it or not.

There is a reason why APC benefits are unchanged through 2020. I would guess this is why.

Lawyers are always an option but I think that’s a long ways off and only after key decisions by OXY are made.

I believe the only protection in months 12-36 is if they terminate you “without cause” or if Oxy is acquired and the new company doesn’t make you a job offer.

The only thing you have to rely on, is that the company will take measures to avoid paying the CoC in as many cases as possible.
