Thread regarding Splunk Inc. layoffs

End Of Life

I heard through internal information that the Splunk Cloud Service will be shutdown Q2 of 2020. The execs are drafting a communication to be sent to customers that they will have 6 months once announced to bring up their own internal Syslog server and shutdown their Splunk Universal Forwarder server. Customers who want their existing logs back will have to pay Splunk professional services to get that data transferred to them or just walk away.

It's apparent to me that half the Signalfx executives will replace the splunk execs because they are better qualified. The list of Splunk execs going to be replaced include the CTO, CDO, CISO, and SVP of Cloud who is also the CPO. Good riddance.

I'm so happy that athe CEO and all his direct reports because of their incompetence are doubling down on cloud even when it showed they weren't good at it.

It would take years of cash flow investments that will drag the stock price down which has already plummeted after the announcements with no guarantee of success. We want them to double down to tighten the ropes around their necks.

Those Signalfx folks will be in for a shock the execs will be put in a subservient position under existing splunk execs who will drive them out the company in a year. Non execs will have a reverse stock split and not get anything and will have to vest their splunk stocks for 4 years again.

They've imploded they're so desperate to turn around their business they're ending perpetual licensing by november 2019 and only do subscription and term licensing.

The sales teams are very pi$$ed of because their most lucrative accounts are perpetual licenses.

The acquisition of Signalfx is the straw that broke the camel's back as they're so overwhelmed and have failed to support and secure their existing splunk enterprise environment for customers. The deal was $600 million in cash and rest stock and will hold up their cash flow for years.

Why are these people still employed and not fired and have their reputations ruined?

Many friends in Splunk sales are saying out loud that this year the sale of Cloud has been DEcelerated to 80% quota and commission recognition. Heard this from 10+ sales peeps which is troubling that they are even discouraging their sales reps from selling more Cloud

As a former customer of splunk cloud i left after the initial hack in february 2018. They wanted to give me free syslog so i would stay but we said no. Apparently hundreds of customers left too and some stayed because splunk gave them free service credits. But splunk had to pay my company for allowing a hacker to blow away my EC2 production instance.

I would never choose such an amateurish company again to do business with again and learned my lesson to know that 3rd party managed syslog is a r—ded idea.
