2 more people laid off in Malibu. Probably the 2 most vibrant employees that kept the smiles and life in Malibu. Bullsh!t reasons for their termination. One of them they completely set up for failure, and laid off by manager for personal reasons. The other, like vultures tore him down. Management now is sh!t. They have no people skills. They are conniving, and only care how to advance themselves. They are worthless and will drive others to quit, especially seniors, like myself. Morale is at its lowest now. The office is dead.

"Management makes decisions for the better of the company and that includes cuts." Lmao, sometimes sure, but sometimes it's for the worse of the company and its employees
WHY? WHY? WHY? This thread made me sick. How can somebody talk about somebody’s medical condition on a public thread. Do you know how they can hurt the individual? One thing is about being laid off and another making such comments. Management makes decisions for the better of the company and that includes cuts. Can they had to be reassigned to another team? Sure but I am sure that was to the discretion of the manager. Now if the manager had personal reasons then the individual should’ve had protected themselves or talk to HR.
Yeah both will be missed but let’s move on. I don’t think either individuals would appreciate this thread.
I feel for the ones that were let go. They were good people and will be missed. But lets not forget the rest of the engineers here. Management needs to open up their eyes and take care of us. I don't think the OP is a senior, I have been here for a little over a year and cant see 2-3 seniors here saying that. Regardless, lets focus on our job while we still have it, leave the two move forward to something better, when our time come it will be inevitable and will will just have to move on. On another note, the comment about one of them having a medical condition is simply indecorous. If you respected them you wouldn't have exposed their condition.
OP can only be one of 2 people and the other one is a manager and isn’t stupid enough to post something like this. I’ve been with the company for less then a year and this so called senior does less work then more then 80% if the engineers that have less then 2 years. You could be laid off and no one will even realize you are gone. I’d rather have someone come replace you that just got out of coding school.
The engineers still here are some hard working engineers. No respect for those of us that are new to the department and work hard to prove ourselves and see ourselves grow. I’m guessing the OP is the person that does nothing to help but doesn’t do anything for my career as a “senior”. Look at yourself in the mirror. When have you help any of us newbies?
this is the norm all over. the good go, the bad and the ugly call the shots. all locations are dropping in the masses.
Get used to it. They are no notices at D&B. Meeting with TL and HR rep for 1045 minutes and out the door.
Don't you lot have a failure wall? This should be on it. I Wish you all luck mates!
Hands down 2 of the most impacted losses in the bu. It is unexplained and made no sense at all.
As one mentioned there are plenty of open positions, the office is understaffed to begin with, let alone to let them go. The personal reasons one, yeah, This definitely stinks foul play. i can so see this. He was constantly undermined way before he was his manager. Many of us saw it clearly he was targeted and discriminated against. I am personally sorry i couldn't prevent this. I truly wish them good luck and hope they land on their feet. The Engineering Manager that quit ? or eliminated? how odd. No advance notice. I am embarrassed to to be under this management with such actions.
Tragic cuts indeed! One was the senior engineering manager and was let go with literally zero communication to the team prior. No two weeks notice.... No one hour notice...
The other was a computer scientist with a bachelor's in CS who was pushed from a automation team to a Java unit testing team and then to a python role under the DevOps manager. His role was eliminated and he was not fired for performance reasons....... Uh yeah sure no way it wasn't a personal issue between him and that manager. And with that role elimination he was not sent to a different role but instead let go entirely while open roles remain... This guy was also a huge morale boost for the company and this cut deeply saddens me.
I affirm what the OP said about morale in Malibu. The past three days were shocking to most of us to see these two go so unexpectedly. One of them was inevitable because his position was being absorbed by his ranked peers. However the other one didn't deserve to be let go, we failed him terribly. Instead of reassigning him to another team, they terminated his position along with him. We are really sad to see such a talent go. Chattering in the office has revealed he has some serious medical condition, he is probably within reason to sue. It is also said his manager really disliked him for personal reasons. Such shame.
What department? Technology? They pay them peanuts anyway, they are probably better off. I would consider them the "lucky" ones. I hope they got some sort of severance.
I bet they cut them to raise their own salaries! This epidemic is happening company-wide. It is sickening. I wish the rest there good luck, lots of whispers are being heard.
