Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

The Webster, TX store is toast.

Just got here and the shelves are mostly bare. It honestly looks like a Walmart that got looted after a hurricane. There is no toilet paper in the restrooms, no soap in the dispensers, and it was pretty clear they fired the janitorial service weeks ago. There are overhead lights that are missing bulbs, and there is ZERO overhead/rack inventory in the appliance section. The computer/cable/component/router section has been stripped bare. What little inventory remains is just tossed on the floor or shelf base. Per a worker I spoke with, management cut the hours of anyone who wasnt a “specialist” down to 4 hours to get them to quit... so they wouldnt get paid unemployment and the store gets to keep a little more cash. Remarkably, they still appear to be selling their extended warranties even though they know the store will be gone in a few weeks and the warranty wont be worth the paper it is printed on.

This is a really sad epitaph for a store that I used to love. RIP, Frys.

This is why you get a degree. If you're not university material, go to tech school, get an AA and get as many certs as you can. give it about 5-8 years and you'll be making money. If it's not tech, plumbing, ac, etc, trade schools are an excellent way to get somewhere in life fast.
