Thread regarding Optum layoffs

OptumInsight acquiring non-clinical staff at John Muir Health

I work in the IT department for John Muir Health, in the SF Bay area. JMH made a deal with Optum to transfer their non clinical employees (IT dept, etc) to Optum. JMH and Optum are stating we will retain the same pay and still work at JMH, but will be employees of Optum.

Does this sound familiar? I'm wondering how Optum can save JMH money by outsourcing us back to JMH and pay us the same wages that JMH is paying us.

My guess is the fine print says that the same pay is guaranteed only for a set period (like a year). Which means don't expect to be an employee at Optum in a year. This is the classic rebadging tactic of managed services companies. They will dump you for lower paid employees eventually.
