Dad headed out to work more nervous than usual, and I see somebody here mentioned possible layoffs (he certainly didn't share that with us) so I'm wondering if that might be the reason...

I am so sorry to hear all who were laid off. It was coming. The terrible KODIAK acquisition in ND. Then came the cash flow issues, and having to borrow money as JV from Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones. in just 2015, it was a 5 Billion dollar company with a great stock price, today it's less than 1 billion and a stock price of 11 dollars. the layoff and asset sales are just the beginning to make them ready to sell to chevron. Probably won't fetch a good price though.

Yep, got hit after over 10 years. As for who I saw get let go it seemed in Denver to be senior people (redlined on pay) and people who you would really want to hold onto if you intended to be an ongoing business but not if you are parting it out.
I have been threw multiple lay-offs on the planning side, never have I seen outside HR hired to fire people, very impersonal. I was not even allowed to pack my stuff, given a parking validation pass (which did not work) and not so much as a handshake from my leadership. That was not the honest and open culture Mr Holly likes to talk about so much.

We're hearing that reserves are emptied just before the end of the quarter and the people that are left are just going to be around for 6 months to work on shut-down or sale.
