FACT: ATS is one of many contractor companies used by AlticeUSA ,union shop or not.
Fact: Altice wants majority of workforce to be third party (contractors). It’s quite obvious they will sacrifice quality of work if it can save them a few bucks.
Fact: If your not a union member covered by a CBA you are an at will employee who can & will be laid off/fired for any reason Altice says.
Fact: All union members have the right to have union representation (Weingarten Rights) for any discipline related matters. All union members have a right to file a grievance if they feel any part of their CBA has been violated. This includes having case go to arbitration if needed.
Fact: Union members under a CBA will be the primary workforce & contractors will be used as needed.
Fact: If there are layoffs, In house union members will be the majority of the workforce.
Fact: All union members have guaranteed wage increases, benefits, sick, personal, vacation time. Also will have OT, DT, & standby available to them when needed.

Please don’t pay any attention whatsoever to what this person said. It’s most likely management trolls trying once again to scare & divide us. There will be a demand for techs for a very long time. Yes, cable boxes will be obsolete & will only need one device to service all customers equipment, but it will take much more than 5yrs for this to be the norm. Stay Strong & United! Don’t believe the hype!
It’s going to take longer than 5 that’s a given. Your going to need to wait for a whole generation to die off before that is possible for one piece of equipment in every house hold. Not everyone can afford a smart tv. Even if the company provided some type of smart box it’s still company equipment. 5 years for anything with this company is a major stretch. C-ap they had a 5 yr plan on this sham of a fiber to hit the whole footprint. Where is it it’s been 3 already. No one really knows and will continue to be left in the dark because all that work will be contracted out.

If the poster knows whats going on they could be right. With the altice one fiber modem router combo already built in the house after fibers in it would mean way less work.
Thanks for the info Nostradamus. Assuming you don’t work here anymore. Even if this is the case there will be something to maintain for those still around. Cable existed before cable boxes and will continue to exist. Even if it went to one modem someone has to fix it. Storms happen and there should always be some type of in-house work. You can only hope the BPU steps in and more strictly regulates the industry. It can only mean more work, more overtime, and job security
