I’ve been told by my MM that changes in September, splitting from pharmacy...so we shall see??
Walmart made some bad $$$ big money purchases betting on online. Selling out optical will cut payroll in optical, lab district and regional management and 3rd party while keeping a profit.
Does anyone know what’s going on with vision centers? Are they closing or going 3rd party?
Something seems to be going on, any input..
Writing on the wall
It’s hard to say right now, they’re supposedly putting a lot of money into vision...similar to pharmacy and hoping for a ROI unlike what has happened in pharmacy.
Also I believe they were getting ready to sell, fired most of the optical support staff, got rid of our safety program, then several of Walmart’s higher level associates left Walmart and created the company “bridgemart”, as they knew that Walmart optical was going third party. The policy in which the time an associate needs to be separated from Walmart can be a vender/supplier for Walmart was also changed in that time period for 3 years to 1 year. That’s why none of the vision centers or company’s that had contracts with Walmart Vision were not made aware of the change until about a year from when the founders of bridgemart had left the company.
National vision was most recently trying to raise a lot of capital and most likely would be the company taking over the vision side, they are Walmart’s contact lens supplier.
My store has a 3rd party. It’s been that way for years and it does very well.
United healthcare
Who would be the 3rd party company? Any word?
3-party *Vision, and Pharmacy.
Who would buy them they are not profitable. Not a wise investment.
