So I drank from the fire hose and was left with nothing but charred remains. So for those that left under their own terms, what is life like away from this mess? Any challenges to non-compete?

I got fired a few years back, honestly it was the best thing ever happened to me. If you work at Staples right now, should be glad you get out either way it comes. I had a stress free life for the past 2 years. And I honestly believe it's because I don't work at Staples anymore.
2nd year law school students can blow 99% of the non-competes out, not even worth the paper they are written on
Request a copy from HR and they will tell you they don't have one on file. Incompetence runs deep at Staples.
Leaving on my own terms was the best decision I’ve made in my professional career.
Also, outside of the big red machine, people will respect the hell out of you for seeing the writing on the wall and getting out before being laid off. It shows self-worth and foresight to get out on your own and don’t let anyone inside that toxic environment tell you otherwise.
Depends on your role and location. If you were in sales and high up, expect a cease and desist/nastygram. If not, don’t lose sleep over it.
non-compete? hahaha. if you quit, you're another person they don't have to lay off.
Non-compete??? never entered into my decision making
