Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Don't wait too long to make the right decisions

NOV has a lot of great people working for it. It also has a lot of people that are coasting along or that are not capable of performing in their current positions.

Managers don't take action to remove these ineffective people because it is very difficult to go through the process of hiring replacements. We have had open reqs in our group that required 6+ months to get the person in the door after the candidate was identified.

Having these ineffective people and coasters in the teams cause a real drag on productivity. How much time is spent each day talking about the people that are not doing their jobs? How much of your time is spent doing tasks that should be the responsibility of someone else.

Do you want to keep the productive people that are getting product designed, built, serviced, and supported? Then bring in new hires (or promote from within) to fill the positions that need to be filled. Remove the people that need to be removed.
