Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

HELP - should I stay or go?

Ok I need opinions. I have an opportunity at a different company.

Pay is better.
Commute is worse.
I do like people I work with.
There are key projects underway.
I do actually like Staples
I do have uncertainty about the future at Staples.
I have a guilty feeling that I shouldn't leave because of projects.

What would you do?

I’m sorry..... but is the OP even asking a serious question here??? Read the boards back to the beginning— you won’t even post that type of silly question here.

If the commute is tolerable I’d say get out, take the extra money and enjoy your life. Staples is a dead end. Most of us are just waiting around for severance.

I think you know. Follow your gut and if you have a big one sorry don't take offense.

Staples is a dead end, they can never recover from the debt that SP riddled them with. If the key projects you will be working on can be an interesting experience for yourself and to improve your CV, sure why not. But realize that Staples will be gone in a few years, and they will not flinch to lay you off even before that happens.

If the pay at the other company is better but the commute is worse, compare those 2 certainties and think about what is most important to you. Other companies have nice people and interesting key projects as well, it's much nicer working for a company that isn't failing.

Leave and don’t look back!!!!! Staples will show NO loyalty to you; don’t give them any in return!

I liked the people at Staples too, since I've been gone nary a 1 has reached out, so don't even let that enter into the decision process. Does the additional salary make the commute worthwhile? New employer is almost certainly more stable than Staples and they want you and as the previous poster said Staples don't care about tossing your a$$.
