Eliminate “Smart Mobility” to improve profits

The Smart Mobility group is a huge waste of hundreds of millions of dollars, will never add profits to bottom line. This group should be eliminated and put the money into manufacturing quality vehicles that people want to buy that aren’t recalled multiple times.

Marcy is out so naturally smart mobility will fold soon enough.

I hope someone archives her podcasts, great example of corporate buzzwords in lieu of transparent, effective communication

The only thing Hackett knows about “Mobility” is that a desk drawer has roller slides that allow for the mobility of the drawer to open and close.....!!!!

Wow! Makes me angry to hear about people milking the system. I worked from home two days a week but I really did work, usually 10 to 12 hours on WFH days. On the days that I worked from work I frequently worked from home after dinner. Seems odd that I was one of the people eliminated. Maybe the ones milking the system are the smart ones. They still have jobs.

TCO = Town Center Offices @ Fairlane mall. All comments made about this facility are spot on. I know someone who moved to the mobility group in Corktown and he is extremely disappointed at the lack of focus.

@10dr7iE9-1ypd Nothing really changes at Fords. Been around long enough to see the evolution. When I started there was the three martini lunch followed by closed doors and snoozing until 3 pm departure. This was followed by all the supervisors, managers and wannabes.
The martini lunch was succeeded by the 11 am to 2 pm beers and euchre at the bar and a 3 pm departure for the whole team. 7 am to 11 am were the working hours (20 hour work week). HR got involved at some point with the on the job drinking.
Then the 2 “work” from home days a week was born (24 hour work week).

So the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Retired and out of the rat race. I laugh every time I see Fords employees out on the lake boating or fishing during work hours or shopping in Home Depot or Menards. Yup Fords surely is the place to work if you want to milk the system. The waste, entitlement and laziness ticked me off while I was working, now it is someone else’s problem.

Smart Mobility and GDIA are both massively over staffed, rudderless and a waste of money. Only a small fraction of these teams contribute anything to Ford’s bottom line or future. The rest are milking the gravy train. Of course the leadership teams cannot admit this and keep increasing staffing levels hoping that by doubling down they will turn the corner towards producing something of value. The delusional bubble will pop eventually and some s—er will be left holding the bag. Everyone rolling the dice that the bubble won’t pop before they retire or resign.

Our CEO Jim Hackett was hired in to be in charge of Mobility. Hackett knew nothing about mobility and was in charge of creating that group. They hired a lot of people with no knowledge or experience in automotive industry. These people used to make office furnitures.

Look at where Ford mobility is today. After 4 years, wasted billions of company’s dollars, and that group still have no idea what they are supposed to be doing.

I know a guy that works in Ford mobility, he spent most of his time at home with his kids. These Ford employees has the best job in the company. They contribute nothing to the company, they get paid high salaries, the generate no income, they have money to hire outside companies to do their job. Wow. Hackett created something that Bill Ford did not thought of. A new way to waste Fird money.

The famous and popular “Friday Telecommute Day”, you can unload an AR15 Magazine in TCO on Friday’s and hit nothing but the empty desks. Nothing like a four day work week.....

I know a guy that works in that group. “Works” from home every Friday when he is really just taking care of his kid. Took seven years to get a four year college degree in general studies (paid for by his parents). He knows nothing about anything, but is involved with acquisitions! This group is a waste of lots of money.

Yeah smart utility, means why not work from home more often? that would be smart utility, but NOOOOO, please just drive in everyday and sit in the cube. You could do the same thing at home. I will say its amazing to sit in traffic everyday and see one person per vehicle. What a waste!!!! Either ride share, which almost nobody will do or work from home if possible. There will come a point where you just cant fit everyone on the road, its becoming ridiculous.
