Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

Southern California Fry's Stores are pulling Inventory from the shelves.

Southern California Fry's Stores [Anaheim, industry, Fountain Valley & Mesa] are pulling Inventory from the shelves. Stores are empty! That still being sold looks to be the items that are off-brand.

  1. I.P. Frys. You'll be missed.

I was there today . Lots of empty shelves , racks isles with nothing on them. Only one register open and no person checking receipts. Place looked pretty abandoned

What kind of inventory? In what number? Whole sections or just specific items?

Stores do pull inventory on a regular basis, either due to manufacturer recalls, obsolescence, inter-store transfers or in the case of Fry's it's often "oh c-ap we bought thousands of this item that no one would ever think of coming to an electronics store for and it's been sitting on the self for years guess we should try to sell it back.". Inter-store transfers have been halted for the most part but if you're seeing a lot of stuff being pulled now it's possibly due to the fact that the stores have not been sending stuff back to the vendors with the distribution center being shut down, they are only now starting to ship the backlog of items out directly from the stores to vendors which means a lot of stuff is being pulled at once.

It's also possible that you could be seeing them take stuff down from one section to try and spread it out elsewhere, that's a pretty common practice to attempt to make the store look less empty.
