Thread regarding Fry's Electronics layoffs

Phoenix Store Empty

Fry's Phoenix is near empty of product. Associates state they haven't been told anything and are just coming to work and standing around. No product, no new items, vendor endcaps and displays are gone. Manager MIA. Associated state they haven't been told anything and are in the dark.

This is yet another example of where corporate is closing stores but leaving the in-store associates clueless until they show up to work and the doors are locked. Completely heartless corporate greed to grab money, not tell associates so they can plan.

This is what's wrong with Retail and while it's failing.

went into the Phoenix store yesterday and it gets emptier by the day. Sad because it is the only place close by to me where I can buy electronics asap. Now I will be forced to use online retailers.

At the phoenix store yesterday....
This place is done and sadly they are not telling the employees.
I talked to a few that were convinced in the same "inventory soon" fabrication.
Some tried to blame tariffs, others mentioned "going online"......
It was fairly difficult to listen to them believe and hope for the best. I strongly advised those that would listen to find another place ASAP....
What I don't get is how a person in retail could not recognize that if you don't have what a customer wants available, your never gonna see that customer again.
The best buy store right next to it was flourishing with business.

Wow, i had no idea this was going on at other stores in different states. I go to the Phoenix, AZ store about once a month.. Since February i noticed the shelves getting more and more bare.. Asked several associates if they were going out of business, but like others on this thread was told, "we are renegotiating with suppliers.. will be getting more stock soon.." I wanted to believe that badly..

But sadly, I suspect this is the company smokescreen line.. because i went in again tonight – and the parking is so empty.. barely any employees to be found.. absolutely no product.. what stuff they do have looks like old junk – like the stuff from 10 years ago that no one wanted – like one would find at a garage sale or liquidation store.. it is awful the way they have tried to spread out products that no one would go to Fry's Electronics to buy in the first place – to try and fill up shelf space..

No computers, no pc components, no cameras, no video game systems, no tv's, no appliances, no audio – just rows and rows of emptiness.. but they did have rows of bottled water along the wall that DIY computer components used to be on.. so sad..

an old guy salesman i managed to find told me, "they told us we're not closing down.. but – i don't think they'd tell us anyway – everyone would leave tomorrow".. Sadly, i expect to see a lock on the doors and a Out of Business sign any day now.. :-(

The writing has been on the wall. I hope Fry's employees have been looking, or at least saving money. It's sad. I really liked Fry's but wen I went in the store early this year the place seemed empty and dreary.... Oh and don't bother with Lowes next store, they're on a decline too.
