Got hit today, as well. I knew it was coming, but was still in disbelief at some of the things that got kept and others that got axed. Complete dumpster fire.
About the parking spots. Anyone else notice the spots are still blocked off on the west side? Gas company has been long gone.
SP actually targets women on or going on MAT leave. It's a pattern. I can list at least 8-10 in mktg alone.
Count the number of additional empty parking spots at the end of the week of course!
If you’ve been watching the Financial Update broadcasts you would have heard Sandy saying that this was coming. It’s not new info. That said, it s—s to be one of those affected. I was told when I arrived at 8:20 this morning. Packed and gone by 9. I knew that I might be affected. Just hoped it wouldn’t happen. I’ve been here before. There is life after. They need my skills now more than ever, but such is their decision.
A lay-off is primarily a numbers game. Some analysis as to what functions they don’t need but ultimately it comes down to salaries and making the numbers line up. It’s nothing personal except to those who are released.
What I find interesting is how many people are working so hard to make the numbers look good so that the company will sell later. Whoever buys will surely purge the functions that are redundant. And so it goes.

I think it is a range because some were actual people that were laid off and others were open positions that will just not be filled.

Extremely unethical to lay off people who are about to go on maternity leave. Wouldn't recommend anyone to work for such a firm.
