Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

I'm so tired of this...

So tired of seeing some of our best people walked out while the management that made the bad decisions that put this company in a position it is in remains intact.

How is this okay? Do they not see how this is affecting everybody - those leaving and those staying? Just when I think morale can get any worse, something like this happens.

We need leadership changes to fix what is wrong, not employe layoffs.

what leader are you thinking of that would stop the death spiral? As Dandy Don used to sing on MNF, "turn out the lights the party is over"

Totally agree. But if you've been here long, you will know that at one time, your chances of promotion were higher if you had a certain type of loud and hearty-sounding laugh and if you went out for a smoke with the right managers. We could predict with 100% accuracy who would get promoted. Some us I bet, went home and practiced their laughs or took up smoking. Not kidding. That's the kind of management Staples has had for years and years. In the last couple of years, however, this has changed, SP is axing top-level middle management with high salaries and 15+ years of service and replacing with lower salaries all across the board. No one has been safe and no one will be safe until the inevitable happens and whatever remains is sold off.
