Everybody I talk to seems to hate this place and is only looking for a way out. This is really surprising to me, because outside of no job security, I still enjoy my work. And now I'm starting to think I'm the only one.
Are there other people who are not looking to leave WD?

My employment experience with WDC was awful, I worked very hard, long hours and was a subject matter on my job function plus expanded my knowledge and support to the other divisions. I was praised and squashed all at the same time, I was always afraid for my job, passed up for internal transfers and advancement opportunities, I suffered deep disappointment each time that I didn't get the position because a friend of a friend of a leader less experienced and skilled was awarded the position instead. These un-ethical awful people then would seek my experience and know how to train the friend of a friend to be successful at their new senior position, a real let down and spirit crasher. I was discriminated, belittled and made to feel unworthy by the Sr. Leadership and HR, that I had brought it on myself by not keeping my mouth shut and going with the flow. I left WDC for another position very crushed, I liked my job very much but the people and some of the Senior Leadership including HR were horribly awful to me. I found out recently that some of the Sr. Leadership that treated me horribly were asked to retire, it doesn't make me feel better, just disappointed that it didn't happen while I was still at WDC trying to make things right for myself and those as well that were in the same predicament.
W has been slaughtered, and non-existent during the merge long time ago. That's why W and H seem more positive. Wait till we let the entire S go. They will be positive, too!
Right now it feels like we are 2 different companies. W and H somewhat have similar culture. Totally different frm our friends in Milpitas. Work ethics are way different too. W and H people seem more positive and collaborative than S people.
You find many who share your enjoyment. For me personally, I spend all day every day fighting obstructionists who expect me to do their jobs for them and liars who doctor data and use back door tactics to save their own hides by throwing everyone else under the bus. There is nothing enjoyable or healthy about this job, this culture, or this company.
Any quality or oride in my work is always smashed by lies and poor business decisions. Toxic doesn't even begin to describe it.
The icing on the cake is the anxiety that I won't be able to feed my family every time an unplanned all-hands is announced.
No thanks. I'm not just looking for a way out but god willing found one. "I expect you to do more with less" our SVP says... Tell ya what Mr Hot Shot VP, you do more with less, because I'm not the only one jumping this sinking ship.
