All the Kmart stores within about a 500-700 mile radius of my location are either Hobby Lobby stores, Big Lots stores, vacant, torn down with an empty, weed infested lot or torn down and redeveloped into a fast food joint or gas station.
I do have to say that I miss the 1980s appearance of the majority of the Kmart stores for nostalgic reasons. The beige facade, the long strips of bright flourescent lights which seemed to run endlessly from front to back or side to side of the store's ceiling, the gigantic circular HVAC vents on the ceiling which looked like UFOs, the old IBM registers and the light grey vinyl composition tile...too bad that the cost savings of endless remodels or teardowns/rebuilds weren't passed on to shoppers. Walmart and Target remodeled and rebuilt their stores over and over again yet were more competitively priced and stocked.

Because Kmart really hates where you live
