Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Boeing Layoffs > Prepare

The Boeing Layoffs will come I hear if the MAX is not flying by December time frame. If layoffs happen they will have to give the warn notices in October for the December time. The company would rather have the MAX fixed and flying, but if that doesn't happen they can't afford to have employees sitting around and paying them great wages and benefits with no orders coming in and cancelations. The best thing to do is plan for the worst. Don't rack up debt, save money , be frugal and pay off anything you can. Use the (Dave Ramsey) principals so you can be in the best financial position should you get a warn notice in the future. If you don't get laid off you will be in a better place financially for your future for yourself or family. Boeing always has layoffs in bad times it's just when. It is a way of life working for the company. Great company just plan for ups and downs which is so hard and also sad. :(

IF, and I do mean IF, there are layoffs, those who get their walking papers should give Boeing the finger.

I know most engineers (non-union) probably will find other jobs quick. Union engineers...maybe they look, maybe they wait to be called back.

Union Machinists, they are the most talented people at Boeing, and the dumbest. They won't go find other jobs. They will sit at home, drink beer, collect unemployment and wait for Boeing to call them back. That's why Boeing lays off union folks, because they can get them back. Maybe if they grew a pair and left for another job, Boeing would be less likely to lay off talent.

Honestly, even though it means not getting severance, both engineers and machinists should find jobs as soon as possible. When they start leaving, Boeing will be forced to change.

The company needs the plane to be flying by December or layoffs will come is what I am told. The company is required to give warn notices 60 days prior to the date they want employees out the door. Example - (plane not flying by December and warn notices would be given in October). Unfortunately, the company is in a tough spot. The company needs money coming in to cover employees salaries, benefits etc. and they have not many orders and because of the MAX issue things are at a stand still and they can't pay people to sit idle. Boeing is a great company to work for but when things are good they have money and huge profits which pays for employees and the extras. When things are bad they have to layoff to keep from hemorrhaging money. The best plan of attack for employees is to not spend money and save money be extra frugal and plan for the worst which is layoffs. If you plan and there are no layoffs then you will be in a secure situation for yourself or family. If you need guidance on putting a plan together hire a financial coach and it will give you peace of mind to manage your plan. Let's hope that the MAX gets flying and the layoffs don't come. Better safe than sorry.
