Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Just one new store!

Perhaps Kmart could have done well if for all these closings they had opened just one new store in each area with the closings. It could have been a modern retail building in the current shopping areas that would replace 3 or 4 old stores that were out of the way. Perhaps if they had done this then Kmart could have been strong. Perhaps if Eddie had invested in Kmart rather than loan it money. He could have been the man who fixed Kmart and Sears.

The only thing that would result from new stores being opened is that you would have a nice shiny new building that customers would not shop at due to the tarnished reputation of the company.....as opposed to an older deteriorating building that customers no longer shop at either.

The last remaining Kmart in Illinois has their application for a liquor license posted on the door. Must have a vendor to spend money on a liquor license. Any time I go into the store it’s a different cashier and none are old enough to sell booze.

Kmart was Fast Eddie's pawn, only used to acquire Sears, the one he really wants- he's sacrificing Kmart, giving it up for what he sees as a queen- Sears.

Kmart might have been able to build a new building, and they might’ve been able to fixture it, hell they might’ve even been able to staff It.
Problem is vendors would not send merchandise to fill it. They wouldn’t even send merchandise if you were sending them cash. If you don’t have merchandise, you don’t have a store.
