I mean,for the ones that get to stay at the company? Can they expect to continue having a stable job, or will they be prime candidates for some other wave of layoffs?

Ex-CA here - Absolutely terrible. The company is a joke, support axed heavily, sales doing the job of 3+ people, no clear direction and no investment beyond the top 30 or so accounts globally.
Run, or pray for severance.
And all of that would be different from the last few years at Symantec how exactly?
They pay well but yeah until the BU stabilizes they will continue to layoff. Best bet get a year transition and collect your check at the end of that.
You can expect continued RIF for the first year for sure, till the BU stabilizes.
