Sears is on a 3/1-2/28 fiscal year, so inventory could be nothing more than a mid-year audit, reducing the year-end audit work.

I suspect the inventory is a precursor not to a sale to Wesfarmers or anyone else but for imminent liquidation.

Rumor I’m hearing is to get the name Wes has to buy everything lock stock and barrel.

Rumors been going around a few months, check the old threads on here they were out at HE in July I think. Maybe June.

Is the plan to take real estate and use it for Anko stores? Look at the single store in Seattle, and look at the job postings for the warehouse up there. I think Wesfarmers is gonna use Anko as the driving expansion into the US, and if they can buy the US rights to the global KMart name in exchange for real estate (assuming leases or owned property).

Explain why this would be completely wrong (or, completely correct).

They’re going to all the stores. Kmart Australia is requiring an independent handle on the inventory before they close the deal.
