Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Engineers will be laid off

Corporate speek email has come out with reference to "realignment"

Which is a code word for Layoffs. Looks like this will be an engineering layoff and not a factory floor layoff. It's going to go deep.

Get your resumes updated.

PS = Puget Sound
MO = Modus Operandi

If you did not know PS, you have never worked at Boeing in the Northwest

If you did not know MO, well, maybe you don't know much about law enforcement.

"Nope" replies: thanks for the attack. My thoughts may make no sense to you. To me, that makes sense. Keep trolling!

At nope not sure what you meant to convey by your post. Just getting stuff off your chest?

Your thoughts make no sense. No one believes everything they read. There has been more misinformation to keep the stock propped that’s reality we live in in any industry.

Ummm… I'm unsure about a lot of this back-and-forth. I work in the PS area- between: production, engineering, and management. I have seen lots of folks disappear from work-contractors eliminated from offices, various engineers... it is impacting my work. If you haven't noticed, you aren't paying attention -or- don't work on the affected lines.

NOBODY KNOWS what is going to happen with the MAX, and I am not giving out advice to my competitors on job retention or seeking.

People ask: why stay at Boeing? A: The work is often enjoyable, I like a steady paycheck, and I am making my life and career plans based on my wants and needs, not the company's that I work for.

I hope the MAX flies again, if it is safe to do so. I hope it doesn't, if it's not. I was excited to see the MAX roll-out, and I have 100% felt duped and cheated out of my own labor and enthusiasm. I am sorry for the loss of lives. However, if anybody feels betrayed by a CORPORATION that manufactures bombs and weapons systems/ is just a greedy corporate monster- then I'd say you were living in your own version of reality.

Sweeping layoffs may or may not happen. I am on the inside, and I have seen SO MUCH MISINFORMATION portrayed in the news. Do not believe everything that you read.

There was an article in Bloomberg that Boeing fears mass exodus from 737. Type in google about it and you will understand why not a single VLO has been offered.

I dont rhinknthey will layoff in PS area. Maybe a few, but not many. First, they are union, so they can't layoff the older engineers (which is their MO). It will probably be non-union engineers in other parts of the country.

A layoff of engineers would be short sighted. They have the 777x, 797, and several defense projects.

Save money now, lose money for being late later. The economy is good, engineers will have jobs in less than 2 months. Boeing won't get them back. Since they are struggling to fill engineering openings now, this will make it worse.

If the is a VLO offer to engineers, the acceptance rate will be surprisingly high.

You are the one who doesn't have clue. There is absolutely no requirement to offer
VLO . They can start straight with involuntary layoff. Been in this place since 2006. I have seen involuntary layoff of 2009, 2013 and VLOs of 2016/2017.

So try again

I do know. They have to offer a voluntary layoff first otherwise you are subject to the process in a involuntary layoff per the normal retention process. In the case that they even have lay offs.

Engineers always get laid off first followed by mechanics.

You asked a month ago? How dumb are you? You know that’s not how it works! If you’re a real engineering employee.
