Two words. Beer o'clock, all day everyday.
Look after those in your team. Help them do what needs to be done to help them through this.
Coach them on things they want to learn, share ideas, if they are looking elsewhere let them know of interesting opportunities.
If you take care of those around you they will stay somewhat motivated to keep going through this difficult time.
People are generally decent and loyalty is stronger to people than companies.
You can’t keep morale up.
Business as usual? When we don’t know what products are in or out. Would you want to talk to a customer not knowing if product x would be around in a years time? Especially as you could potentially go back to that customer before a year working for another vendor.
We can’t do anything proactive just re-active.
Our partners are checking out they don’t want to sell us as they don’t know what’s gonna happen.
A lot of folk have great personal integrity and personal brand and don’t want that tarnishing i.e. “Aren’t you Dave from Symantec who sold us product x then they pulled out of our market and stopped the product!” as you walk in representing a new vendor. It’s a small industry.
I can’t see how any customer would want to purchase anything from us at present with all the uncertainty around what goes, what stays, who goes, who stays...
It’s a horrible situation to be in.
Same way it was at CA. Management telling everyone it is "Business as Usual" only added insult to injury.
