What are the prospects for laid off Symantec workers of finding a job in this market?

I'm sorry, but Symantec does not hire the best nor pay well. While there are some FAANG-level people here, most are not of that caliber. The total compensation is a lot lower than the FAANGs.
Guys.... we work for Symantec, getting in the door here is pretty tough and we hire the best talent. No one will struggle to get a job - there are thousands upon thousands out there! Plus, Symantec pay well, but a lot of companies pay better! Keep your chin up and stop worrying - change can be good - if you let it be.
If you are a software engineer, start figuring out c-ap like finding longest palindromic substring and the minimum number of chairs needed so everyone can sit at your party. And prepare to go through multiple rounds of live programming exercises with all sorts of related array/string/number manipulation.

I hear you bro but don't worry, it won't help you move forward. There are companies out there for which you are very valuable, stay focused and it will be a perfect storm for you. I'm in similar situation btw.
Depends on what you do...there are many openings for some types of works and fewer for others. Try searching LinkedIn's or Indeed's job postings to get a sense
